Mohammed Shami’s contract with Lucknow Super Giants : Indian fast bowler Mohammad Shami, who has been struggling to make a comeback in the Indian cricket team, is now likely to be seen playing for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2026. According to reports, Sunrisers Hyderabad have agreed to trade Mohammad Shami to Lucknow Super Giants. He is going to pay Rs 10 crore to Lucknow for this deal. Mohammad Shami was bought by Hyderabad team in IPL 2025 mega auction for this price.

According to a report by ESPNcricinfo, both the franchises have agreed to trade Shami and now, they are just waiting for Shami’s permission. The IPL has given the franchises a deadline of 15 November 3 pm to submit the list of players they wish to drop from their 2025 squad.

Mohammad Shami played in the Champions Trophy final in March. Since then, he has not been able to regain his place in the Indian team. Mohammad Shami is currently seen playing for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy and is doing brilliantly in this tournament. Mohammed Shami admits that he is going through tough times. He was left out of the Indian squad for the home Test series against the West Indies and the two-Test series against South Africa.

Mohammad Shami had a brilliant performance while playing for Gujarat Titans in the season 2022-24. Subsequently, he was bought by SRH for Rs 10 crore in the IPL 2025 auction last season. In IPL 2022 and 2023, he took 28 wickets in the first six overs. He missed IPL 2024 due to injury. However, his performance last season was not satisfactory.

Shami’s inclusion in the LSG squad is likely to be linked to the fitness of Indian pacers Avesh Khan, Mayank Yadav and Mohsin Khan. All three are currently undergoing rehabilitation process due to various injuries and are not playing in domestic cricket.
