The Delhi Capitals have roped in Nitish Rana on a trade deal from the Rajasthan Royals ahead of the IPL 2026 auction.
He has moved to Capitals for his existing price of INR 4.2 crore, just one season after joining the Jaipur-based franchise.
This comes after CSK and RR confirmed Sanju Samson-Ravindra Jadeja trade on November 15.
Meanwhile, Donovan Ferreira has joined the Rajasthan Royals as an overseas signing who recently captained South Africa in Pakistan.
Rajasthan Royals have also brought back Donovan Ferreira as Nitish Rana moves to Delhi Capitals, adding more firepower to the Royals’ batting lineup.
“All-rounder Donovan Ferreira will return to his first franchise, Rajasthan Royals (RR), following a successful trade from Delhi Capitals (DC). As per the transfer agreement, his fee has been revised from INR 75 lakh to INR 1 crore,” the statement added.
“It feels great to return to a familiar environment. I’ve had a good chat with Kumar and I’m looking forward to playing my role for the Royals,” said Donovan Ferreira.
Nitish Rana was part of the RR squad in the IPL 2025 and played a decent part, but now moves to his home franchise with the Capitals.
Notably, the team already has many left-handed batters. With Yashasvi Jaiswal, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Riyan Parag, Shimron Hetmyer, Ravindra Jadeja, and Sam Curran all featuring in the lineup, the franchise decided to part ways with Rana.
Rajasthan Royals has given a statement over the trade saying, “Left-handed batter Nitish Rana will now represent Delhi Capitals (DC) following a trade from Rajasthan Royals (RR). He will continue at his existing fee of INR 4.2 crore, which RR had bid for at the auction ahead of the TATA IPL 2025 season.”
“Rana, who has featured in over 100 games, captained Kolkata Knight Riders in 2023 when Shreyas Iyer was sidelined due to injury,” the statement read.
Nitish Rana represents a shrewd acquisition. DC have added an experienced top-order batter to their ranks. Nitish Rana has opened and batted at No.3 and 4 in his career. The left-hander’s acquisition could allow Delhi to KL Rahul open the batting.
