New Delhi. The race for new launches and upgrades continues in India’s rapidly growing SUV market. New SUV players are continuously entering the market. Meanwhile, the country’s largest car company has recalled more than 39,000 units of its popular Grand Vitara SUV. Recall means that some technical flaws have come to light in these units. These will be returned to the customers after being rectified by the company.
Fault seen in fuel gauge
Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has said in a regulatory filing that some flaws have been observed in the fuel gauge display system in Grand Vitara SUVs manufactured between December 9, 2024 and April 29, 2025. According to the company, the fuel level indicator and warning light present in the speedometer assembly is sometimes not displaying the actual fuel level correctly. Due to which the driver will not get correct information about the fuel left in the tank. A total of 39,506 units of Grand Vitara are included in this recall.

Maruti Suzuki has said that the owners of vehicles affected by this recall will be directly contacted by the company or its authorized dealers. Customers will be called to the nearest Maruti Suzuki workshop, where expert technicians will check the component and replace it, if necessary. The repair work will be done completely free of cost. Calling this a “precautionary step”, the company has appealed to the customers to respond timely so that safe driving of the vehicle is maintained.
Growing quality-check culture
Auto companies in India seem to be more cautious about safety and quality under the voluntary recall code in the last few years. This recall is part of the same culture where car manufacturers are ready to fix potential problems at an early stage.
Maruti Suzuki has been rapidly expanding its SUV portfolio in recent years. So that it can strengthen its hold in the premium and high-growth segments. Grand Vitara, developed in collaboration with Toyota, is one of the company’s flagship compact SUV range. It has strong-hybrid powertrain, all-wheel drive option as well as modern features. Which makes it a popular choice among urban and family car buyers.
price and mileage
Maruti Suzuki had announced a reduction in the price of Grand Vitara by up to Rs 1,07,000 after the recent GST reform. Now the price of this SUV starts from Rs 10.77 lakh and goes up to Rs 19.72 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top model. The company claims that its petrol variant gives a mileage of up to 21.11 km per liter and the CNG variant gives a mileage of up to 26.6 km per kg.
