Roads have been cordoned off as more than 50 firefighters tackle a blaze at an electrical substation in a city centre.
Emergency services responded to the scene on West Nile Street, Glasgow, after the alarm was raised at around 4:30 pm on Saturday.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said an H&M store near the substation was evacuated while they dealt with the incident.
Eight fire engines, a high-reach appliance and a command support unit were at the scene on Saturday evening.
People posting on social media described hearing explosions and lights flickering in the area just before the incident.
There were no reports of any injuries.
Police said that some roads are closed and advised people to avoid the area.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "West Nile Street in Glasgow is closed from Renfield Street to Bath Street after a fire was reported at a premises in West Nile Street around 4.35pm on Saturday, November 15.
"Motorists are advised to avoid the area."
Glasgow City Council's traffic information bulletin service said that West Nile Street was closed between Bath Street and West George Street, and West Regent Street was shut between Renfield Street and West Nile Street due to the fire.
