In a landmark development ahead of the IPL 2026 retention deadline, the IPL has officially confirmed a series of blockbuster trades—headlined by Ravindra Jadeja’s exit from Chennai Super Kings and Sanju Samson’s move to the Yellow Army.
Jadeja to Rajasthan Royals
Senior all-rounder and former CSK captain Ravindra Jadeja will represent Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2026 after a completed trade between the franchises. Jadeja, who has played over 250 IPL matches and spent 12 seasons with CSK, will now return to the franchise he first starred for in 2008. As part of the agreement, his league fee has been revised from Rs 18 crore to Rs 14 crore.
Sanju Samson to team up with MS Dhoni
In the blockbuster swap, RR captain Sanju Samson will now turn out for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at his existing league fee of Rs 18 crore. Samson—one of the most experienced IPL players with 177 matches—will play for only the third franchise of his career after RR and Delhi Capitals. His move sets up a major storyline for IPL 2026: Samson playing alongside MS Dhonipotentially forming CSK’s new long-term batting core.
Sam Curran moves to RR
England all-rounder Sam Curran has also been traded from CSK to RR at his existing fee of Rs 2.4 crore. The 27-year-old, who has featured in 64 IPL games across Punjab Kings and CSK, will now be part of Rajasthan’s revamped squad.
Mohd Shami to LSG
Veteran Indian pacer Mohd Shami will join Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) after a successful trade from Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Shami, acquired by SRH for Rs 10 crore ahead of IPL 2025, moves to LSG at the same fee. The 2023 Purple Cap winner, with 28 wickets, adds significant experience to LSG’s bowling attack.
Markande returns to Mumbai Indians
Leg-spinner Mayank Markande will return to Mumbai Indians (MI) following a trade from Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). He will join MI at his existing fee of Rs 30 lakhreuniting with the franchise where he began his IPL career in 2018.
Arjun Tendulkar moves to LSG
Bowling all-rounder Arjun Tendulkar has been traded from Mumbai Indians to Lucknow Super Giants at his existing fee of Rs 30 lakh. Arjun, first picked by MI in 2021, made his debut in 2023.
Nitish Rana to Delhi Capitals
Left-handed batter Nitish Rana will join Delhi Capitals (DC) following a trade from Rajasthan Royals. He continues at his existing fee of Rs 4.2 crore. Rana, who captained KKR in 2023, has played over 100 IPL matches.
Donovan Ferreira returns to RR
All-rounder Donovan Ferreira will return to Rajasthan Royals after a trade from Delhi Capitals (DC). His fee has been revised from Rs 75 lakh to Rs 1 crore as part of the transfer.
