In Jodhpur, Rajasthan, a case has come to light of a 17-day-old newborn being murdered by his maternal aunts. It is alleged that the aunts killed the newborn due to superstition. The infant's father and grandfather allege that the infant's maternal aunts were jealous of their large family.

The father alleges that the child's mother's four sisters first broke the infant's limbs and then strangled him to death. Following the father's FIR, the police have launched an investigation and detained the four accused women.

Aunt Accused of Murdering Newborn

Airport Police Station Officer Ramakrishna stated that they received information from Mahatma Gandhi Hospital regarding the murder of a newborn. Mother Suman and father Poonamram have accused their sisters of murdering the newborn. Police have launched an investigation and detained four of the accused women, who are the newborn's aunts. Poonamram, a resident of the city's Nehru Colony, stated that his wife Suman, gave birth to a son on October 24th.

At around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, he received a call from Suman informing him that her sisters, Rameshwari, Mamta, Geeta, and Manju, had killed his child. She even jumped on the child's body and broke the newborn's bones. Poonamram stated that he had named his second son Pratyush.

Poonaram alleges that all his sisters-in-law were jealous of this. Suman has a total of seven siblings, five of whom are unmarried. An elder sister is married, but she also lives in her parents' home. Suman, on the other hand, lived in her in-laws' home. This sparked jealousy in her parents' home. Grandfather Rajuram also alleges that Suman's family killed his grandson out of jealousy.

A video of the entire incident has gone viral, creating a buzz. It shows women sitting with children in their laps, reciting mantras. Mung beans are scattered around, and the sisters have applied turmeric to their bodies. The rumor is that this was a kind of ritual for marriage, resulting in the murder of an innocent child.
