Ruturaj Gaikwad, Nitish Rana star as India A crush South Africa A to seal series

Ruturaj Gaikwad hit an unbeaten half-century and Harshit Rana picked up three wickets as India A defeated South Africa A by nine wickets in the second unofficial ODI on Sunday. This win gave India A an unassailable 2–0 lead in the three-match series. Fast bowler Rana (3/21) and left-arm spinner Nishant Sindhu (4/16) combined to bowl out South Africa A for just 132 in 30.3 overs. India A then chased down the target comfortably reaching 135 for 1 in 27.5 overs. Abhishek Sharma scored a quick 32 from 22 balls and shared a 53-run opening stand with Gaikwad (68*). However Abhishek was dismissed after lofting a catch to Luhan Dre Pretorious off the bowling of Lutho Sipamla. Gaikwad and captain Tilak Varma (29*) then guided India A home without any trouble with Gaikwad finishing the match by hitting a boundary off spinner Prenelan Subrayen. Earlier the South African batters struggled against Rana’s pace and Sindhu’s variations as the pair took seven wickets between them. Not a single South African batter crossed 40 with opener and wicketkeeper Rivaldo Moonsamy top-scoring with 33 from 34 balls.
