New Delhi: Indian women’s team has created history in the final of Women’s World Cup 2025. India has defeated South Africa by 52 runs in the final match of the Women’s World Cup. This great match between India and South Africa was played at DY Patil Stadium. India scored 298 runs at the loss of 7 wickets in 50 overs and set a target of 299 runs against Africa.

There was a nationwide celebration as BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia announced a reward of Rs 51 crore for the players and support staff, calling the win “a monumental achievement taking Indian women’s cricket to a new level”. Meanwhile, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal praised the team’s historic feat, drawing parallels with India’s 1983 Men’s World Cup triumph.

Dhumal said, “Today is an important day for Indian women’s cricket. What the men’s team had achieved in 1983, the Indian women’s team has recreated today in Mumbai. This historic victory will give a huge boost to women’s cricket in the country, and I am confident that our game will now reach new heights.”

Earlier, batting first, India made a strong score of 298/7 runs, which included valuable contributions from Shafali Verma 87, Deepti Sharma 58, Smriti Mandhana 45 and Richa Ghosh 34. A strong 100-run opening partnership between Mandhana and Verma set the platform for a big score, but South Africa made a late comeback to keep India close to the 300-run mark.

Chasing 299, South Africa started confidently as Tazmin Britts and Laura Wolvaardt made a quick fifty-run opening partnership. But Amanjot Kaur’s direct strike ended the British team’s resistance and from then on India took control of the match.

Deepti Sharma performed like a dream, destroying South Africa’s middle order by taking 5 wickets in 39 runs. Despite Woolward’s fighting 101 runs, South Africa were all out for 246 runs in 45.3 overs. India achieved a famous victory of 52 runs amidst huge support at home. As the Tricolor rose high and the players burst into tears of joy, the moment was not just a World Cup victory – but the beginning of a new era for Indian women’s cricket.
