Police have launched an urgent manhunt after a teenager was stabbed to death in what the force has described as a "violent attack". Yassin Alama, 19, was stabbed on Hutton Road in Handsworth, West Midlands, at around 5.20pm yesterday (November 16).

Tragically, the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene, with West Midlands Police supporting his devastated family. Police now want to question Oumar Traore, 17, following the death of Yassin. West Midlands Police said they have "made a number of attempts to arrest Traore in the hours after yesterday's killing, but now need the public's help to track him down".

Jenny Birch from the West Midlands Police Homicide team said: "This was a violent attack in the street which has sadly resulted in the death of Yassin.

"Yassin's family have been left absolutely devastated by what has happened, and we are doing everything we can to support them, and to give them answers.

"We need to find and arrest Traore as soon as possible. If anyone sees him, or has information about where he might be, they should not approach him but call us straight away on 999, quoting log 3135 of 16 November."

The police force stated that they will be using Section 60 powers from 4 pm today and into tomorrow in the area highlighted on this map, until 7 am tomorrow.

This gives officers additional powers to stop and search people without the need to have reasonable grounds.

West Midlands Police also have extra officers in the area today, including high-visibility patrols, who are speaking to community members to offer reassurance and listen to their concerns.
