SBI YONO users, pay attention! A fake message posing as an Aadhaar update is spreading rapidly on social media, claiming that the YONO app will be blocked. PIB Fact Check has debunked this claim. Beware of such fraudulent messages and unknown files.
SBI YONO: A new fraudulent message is rapidly circulating on social media. This message is being sent in the name of the State Bank of India (SBI). It is asking customers to immediately download a specific application file (APK). If they do not do so, their SBI YONO app will be shut down.
PIB Fact Check Team Confirms
The Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check Team has clarified that this claim is 100% false. SBI never asks its customers to download any unsafe file in this manner. This message is designed solely to steal your personal and financial information.
Why is downloading it risk-free?
APK files are a means of installing apps for Android phones. When these files arrive via WhatsApp or unknown links instead of the Play Store, they pose a direct threat.
They can inject viruses or spyware into your phone.
Once installed, these files can leak your passwords, OTPs, and bank account details to hackers.
3 Ways to Stay Safe From This File
Download any app only from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
Never click or download an unknown link or APK file in any message.
If you receive any warnings about your account or app, contact SBI's official website or customer service center directly instead of clicking on any link.
If you find any news suspicious, WhatsApp it to PIB Fact Check at 8799711259.
