Charlotte Stoudt, who serves as writer and showrunner on The Morning Showrecently addressed whether the Apple TV drama series will be ending after the upcoming Season 5. Notably, Apple renewed the Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon-led series for the fifth season back in September, ahead of the premiere of Season 4.
Charlotte Stoudt discusses The Morning Show’s future beyond Season 5
The Morning Show writer gave a detailed interview amid the fourth season finale arriving for streaming on Apple TV.
When asked if the hit series would end its run with the fifth chapter, Charlotte Stoudt told Deadline“Part of that truly is an Apple question. And also the actors. They’re very busy, and they have lots of other things going on. “
The veteran screenwriter elaborated, “I would say we’re early enough in the writing room this year that my real answer to that is, I’m not sure. It’s just about, where do these people end up? And how long does it take them to get to a clarity about their lives? And certainly.” Stoudt added, “Right now, I don’t know anybody is feeling that clear about anything. [It’s] a very destabilizing time.”
However, Stoudt stated that if the show does return for more seasons, they would plan to introduce new cast additions as “wild cards.”
The Morning Show originally premiered on November 1, 2019. It has consistently enjoyed mostly positive ratings from the critics, and its score on the review-aggregating site Rotten Tomatoes for each season has progressively improved. However, it makes sense that the busy schedules of cast members can potentially influence the show’s longevity.
The cast of The Morning Show includes Jennifer Aniston as Alexandra “Alex” Levy, Reese Witherspoon as Bradley Jackson, Billy Crudup as Cory Ellison, and Mark Duplass as Charlie “Chip” Black. The series has also brought in several prominent actors over the years to play various important supporting roles. For instance, Jon Hamm joined The Morning Show cast in Season 3 as tech billionaire Paul Marks.
All four seasons of The Morning Show are now available on Apple TV.
