RBI Sachet Portal
While the digital revolution has made our lives easier, it has also brought some dangers. Today we can invest sitting at home, but many times due to lack of information we hand over our hard-earned money into wrong hands. Imagine, what would happen if the money you invested in a scheme for your future or for your children's education suddenly sinks? Unfortunately, cases of Ponzi schemes and fake investment schemes have become common these days. Often, after being cheated, people give up after going to the police and lawyers. But now you don't need to worry. If you have been a victim of any kind of financial fraud, then a special portal of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is ready to help you.
RBI's 'conscious' attack against fraud
Often when someone is cheated in the name of online fraud or investment, the biggest problem is where to complain? Should we go to the police station, SEBI or the state government? The common man remains trapped in this confusion. The solution to this problem is rbi “SACHET” (Sachet) portal.
This is a platform run by the Reserve Bank, which has been specifically designed to curb illegal deposits and fraudulent schemes. Its biggest feature is its 'smart system'. Suppose you do not know which department will deal with the fraud done to you, even then it does not matter. You simply register your complaint on this portal, the system automatically routes your complaint to the right regulator (be it RBI, SEBI, IRDAI or local police). That is, it is a single window which saves you from the hassles of offices.
Complain like this while sitting at home
If you or someone you know is trapped in a Ponzi scheme, chit fund or illegal investment scheme, do not remain silent. It is very easy to use this portal and for this you do not need to go anywhere.
- First of all type sachet.rbi.org.in in the browser of your mobile or computer.
- As soon as the website opens, you will see the option of 'File a Complaint' or 'Register Complaint' on the home page.
- As soon as you click on it, a form will open. Here you will have to give information about the fraudulent company, app or person. Fill in their address, website, or phone number—whatever information you have.
- After this write your story. Tell it in detail like a story, when you invested, how much profit you were promised, and what excuses the company is making now.
- If you do not understand which department this matter pertains to, you can directly select “I am unable to identify the regulator”.
Take special care of these things while filing complaint
Making a complaint is one thing, but making the complaint strong enough to take action is another matter. While filing complaint on 'Sachet' portal, it is important to keep some details in mind. Do not be vague in your complaint. Instead of writing “I have been defrauded”, clearly mention the date, time and amount.
Remember, evidence is everything in the digital world. If you have bank transaction receipt, investment promissory note, screenshot of WhatsApp chat or any visiting card, then definitely upload it on the portal. Without documents your complaint may become weak.
This entire process is free. If many people are involved in a big fraud, then all of you together can make a 'group complaint', which often has a greater impact. As soon as you submit, you will get a unique number, through which you can track the status of your complaint in future.
