Farmers’ earnings increased in UP: Record in purchase of paddy and millet, Yogi government made fast payments

Yogi government in UP is giving the benefit of fast procurement and timely payment to the farmers. In 2025-26, Rs 852.24 crore was given to paddy farmers and Rs 168.39 crore was given to millet farmers. 4.12 lakh metric tonnes of paddy was purchased from more than 70 thousand farmers.

Lucknow. Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh is continuously working to increase the income of farmers and provide them timely benefits. Paddy and millet are being procured rapidly through government procurement centres. Besides, the system of giving timely payment to farmers has also been strengthened. In the marketing season 2025-26, farmers have been paid more than last time.

Increase in paddy procurement and timely payment

On the instructions of Yogi government, the system of making payment to paddy farmers within 48 hours is in place. This time there has been an increase in both paddy purchase and payment. Till November 19 in 2025-26, the government has paid Rs 852.24 crore to paddy farmers. Rs 848.19 crore was paid till the same date in the last session 2024-25. This increase shows that the government is continuously moving towards providing better facilities to the farmers.

4.12 lakh metric tons of paddy purchased from more than 70 thousand farmers

According to the Food and Logistics Department, so far this year, 4.12 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been purchased from more than 70 thousand farmers. 4,40,318 farmers have registered to sell paddy. This year, 4171 purchasing centers have been established for the purchase of paddy, so that facilities can be available to the farmers nearby.

Millet farmers are also getting benefits

Government policies promoting green grains are also proving beneficial for millet producing farmers. While in 2024-25 till November 19, Rs 56.28 crore was paid to millet farmers, this year in 2025-26 the same figure has increased to Rs 168.39 crore. The minimum support price (MSP) of millet has been fixed at Rs 2775 per quintal. Millet is being procured only in 33 districts of Uttar Pradesh.
