Pursuing a career in engineering is still the dream of millions of students. However, they often believe that admission to B.Tech is only possible through JEE Main. The truth is that several state-level and university-level entrance exams in the country allow you to gain admission to good engineering colleges without taking the JEE Main. These exams allow students to pursue B.Tech courses at prestigious institutions in their state or at specific universities. Here, we provide information about some of the major exams and the admissions offered through them.

B.Tech Admission through CUET UG
If you want to study engineering at a central university like BHU, CUET UG is the right path for you. This exam requires a good score in Physics, Chemistry, and Math (PCM). After passing the exam, you can participate in BHU's counseling and secure a seat. CUET UG also allows you to gain admission to B.Tech without taking the JEE Main.

MHT CET: Maharashtra's State-Level Engineering Exam
MHT CET is the premier engineering entrance test in the state of Maharashtra. Students from both PCM and PCB streams can apply to many of the state's top colleges. The 2026 notification is expected to be released soon.

BITSAT: Admission to BITS Campuses

COMEDK UGET: Admission to Private Colleges in Karnataka
COMEDK UGET is conducted for admission to private engineering colleges in Karnataka. Applications for 2026 are expected to be open between February and April.

Finally, JEE is not required to pursue B.Tech. While JEE is mandatory for admission to top institutions like IITs, NITs, and IIITs, other states and private universities have their own options.
