The new NDA government has formally taken charge in Bihar. Nitish Kumar took oath as Chief Minister for the 10th time on Thursday (20 November). Besides, a new 27-member Council of Ministers was also formed. After the big victory of NDA, BJP has got the largest representation in this cabinet. In the swearing-in ceremony, leaders of BJP, JDU, LJP (Ram Vilas), HAM and RLM took oath as ministers. Bihar BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal has also been included in the cabinet.
Since BJP emerged as the largest party in the assembly elections, the maximum number of 14 ministers in the new government have been taken from the same party. Apart from State President Dilip Jaiswal, 13 other leaders are included in these.
Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha took oath as Deputy CMs, along with Mangal Pandey, Nitin Naveen, Ramkripal Yadav, Sanjay Singh ‘Tiger’, Arun Shankar Prasad, Surendra Mehta, Narayan Prasad, Rama Nishad, Lakhendra Paswan, Shreyasi Singh, Pramod Kumar Chandravanshi were also inducted as cabinet ministers. Of these, Mangal Pandey, Nitin Naveen, Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha have already been in the cabinet, while the remaining 10 are new faces. This time two women Shreyasi Singh and Rama Nishad have also been included.
Eight leaders from JDU, Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Shravan Kumar, Vijendra Yadav, Ashok Chaudhary, Leshi Singh, Jama Khan and Madan Sahni took oath as ministers. Santosh Kumar Suman from Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) has been made minister. Sanjay Kumar (Paswan) and Sanjay Singh have been included from LJP (Ram Vilas). Deepak Prakash has got a place in the cabinet from Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM).
According to sources, the second phase of the cabinet will be announced after January 14, 2026 (Makar Sankranti), in which new departments and faces will be given more space.
In Bihar, NDA not only retained power by winning 202 out of 243 seats but also returned with a bumper victory. This included BJP 89, JDU 85, LJP (RV) 19, HAM 5, RLM 4 seats. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda, and Chief Ministers of several states and top NDA leaders were present at the swearing-in ceremony.
