PM Kisan Yojana Eligibility: Farmers working on other people's land are often confused about this scheme. Will they also receive installments under the Kisan Yojana? Learn the rules.

PM Kisan Yojana Eligibility: Crores of people in the country earn their livelihood from farming. A large number of farmers also practice small-scale farming or work as laborers on other people's land. Due to limited income, these families often face financial difficulties. To help such poor and marginal farmers, the Government of India is running the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana.

Under this scheme, eligible farmers are provided assistance of a total of ₹6,000 in three installments annually. So far, 21 installments have been sent, and the 21st installment was released by Prime Minister Modi on November 19th. But a major question that arises every time is whether farmers who cultivate on other people's land can also benefit from this scheme. Let's explain what the rules say.

Rules for those who cultivate on other people's land

The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana has clear rules regarding those who cultivate on other people's land. If a farmer cultivates on a sharecropping basis and the land is not in his or her name, he or she cannot benefit from this scheme. The entire government process is based on records, and eligibility is determined by land ownership. Many people assume that working on the farm entitles them to benefits. But this is not the case.

This scheme requires that the land on which the farmer cultivates be registered in the farmer's name in the revenue records. However, if a sharecropper owns even a small amount of land, he or she can participate in the scheme based on his or her land. In short, if a farmer does not own any land for farming, he or she will not receive benefits under the scheme.

These farmers receive benefits.

This scheme benefits all farmers who own cultivable land, regardless of its size. Marginal farmers, small farmers, elderly farmers, or those whose family income depends solely on farming are all covered.

The land must be in your name in government records, and bank account information must be linked to Aadhaar. Farmers also need to complete the eKYC and land verification process. Those who own land but haven't updated their records often face difficulties with this process.
