The mishap occurred during the evening gown segment on Wednesday night when she missed a step. Event staff and medical personnel responded quickly, carrying her away on a stretcher.
At the Paolo Rangsit Hospital, doctors determined she had not suffered any broken bones, but have kept her under medical observation. It is not clear yet if she will be able to return for the finals on Friday night.
Henry, 28, crowned Miss Universe Jamaica in August, is an ophthalmologist at the University Hospital of the West Indies in Jamaica. She is also a social activist who runs the See Me Foundation, which supports people who are blind or have impaired vision, and enjoys gardening.
Speaking to Gleaner Jamaica before the preliminary events, she had praised her experience in Thailand during the pageant.
“It’s truly remarkable to be amongst 120 amazing delegates representing their countries, and to have the opportunity to experience Thai culture and hospitality,” she said. “Thailand is a vibrant country with people who exude warmth and kindness, and most of all, who love to smile, just as I do. I truly feel at home.”
The 30 contestants who will advance to the finale will be announced on Friday morning. From among them, the jury will narrow the contest to 12, then five and then three, from which the winner and runners-up will be chosen.
This year’s contest has been marked by controversy. Earlier this month contestants representing Estonia, Indonesia and Hungary suffered food poisoning, and participants from Iceland, Germany, Niger and Persia withdrew.
The Mexico representative was involved in a public spat with pageant executive Nawat Itsaragrisil.
