Maharashtra: Thar fell into 500 feet deep gorge in Raigarh, 6 youth from Pune died, bodies taken out with the help of drone.

Pune, 20 November. A tragic accident took place at Tamhini Ghat in Raigarh district in Maharashtra, where the Thar vehicle of six youth going from Pune to Konkan fell into a 500 feet deep gorge. All the youth died in the accident. With the help of drones, the police have recovered all the bodies in the ditch and sent them for post-mortem.

According to the information received, six friends had left from Pune in Thar towards Konkan at around 11.30 pm on last Monday (17 November). After that the families could not contact them. Family members lodged a missing complaint at Uttamnagar police station. After this, the police started searching in Tamhini Ghat area on the basis of mobile location and CCTV.

Thar seen fallen into ditch during drone search

The police were searching a dangerous turn with a drone on Thursday when they saw a Thar fallen in a deep ditch. Four dead bodies were also seen near the vehicle. The youths who died in the accident were identified as Shahaji Chavan (22 years), Punit Sudhakar Shetty (20 years), Sahil Sadhu Bote (24 years), Mahadev Koli (18 years), Omkar Sunil Koli (18 years) and Shiva Arun Mane (19 years). All of them were residents of different areas of Pune.

The rescue operation had become difficult due to the trench being extremely deep. Mangaon Police, Raigarh Disaster Management Team, Mulshi Tehsil Disaster Management Committee and local people were making continuous efforts together. Police said that despite the challenging conditions, all the bodies were taken out. Since the accident happened late at night, no one was able to know about the incident. But the police continuously conducted search operations with the help of drones and security equipment, which led to information about the tragic accident.
