New Delhi: 30th July has become a historic day for India and the entire world. Today, NASA and ISRO’s joint project NISAR (NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar) satellite was successfully launched. The launch took place at 5.40 pm from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, which is being seen as a major leap in India’s space science.
NISAR is being considered a revolutionary step in monitoring the Earth. It is designed to provide timely warning of devastating natural disasters like earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes and landslides. This satellite is also being called the “MRI scanner of the Earth”, because it can take such microscopic pictures of the Earth’s surface that it can capture changes even at the level of just one centimeter.
