ED’s big raid: properties worth Rs 1,400 crore of Anil Ambani’s group seized

ED Seizes Anil Ambani Assets: New Delhi. ED action has once again been taken against Anil Ambani’s Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG). This time the agency has attached properties worth about Rs 1,400 crore. It is being told that these lands and buildings are in cities like Navi Mumbai, Chennai, Pune and Bhubaneswar.

This action is part of the investigation which ED has been conducting for some time. The agency has already attached assets worth more than Rs 9,000 crore in this case. This means that by now a very large portion has already been captured by ED.

ED Seizes Anil Ambani Assets

Question on money to highway project

ED says that the matter is to Jaipur-Ringas Highway Project. In the year 2010, this work was given to Reliance Infra.
The agency alleges that through this project, about Rs 40 crore was sent out through some shell companies of Surat. It is suspected that this amount is linked to a big hawala network, in which transactions worth more than Rs 600 crore may have taken place.

Earlier, ED has also taken action against properties worth Rs 7,500 crore in this case. Anil Ambani was also interrogated in August.

CBI has also registered the case

This is not just a matter of ED. CBI had also earlier registered an FIR regarding this entire story. CBI alleges that between 2010 and 2012, Anil Ambani, RCOM and its affiliated companies took loans of more than Rs 40,000 crore from many banks in India and abroad.

CBI says that out of these accounts to which money was sent, 5 accounts were later considered fraud by the banks. Some transactions were found to be to people and companies on which questions have been raised earlier also.

ED says that the funds, purchases and entire transactions of the properties that have been attached are being closely investigated. The agency is believing that as the documents come into its hands, more information may come to light in the case.

ADAG Group is already surrounded by financial problems and legal matters. In such a situation, the increasing investigation by ED and CBI has made the situation more difficult.
