What is Cloudflare?
Cloudflare is a global network of servers, providing security, performance and other services to millions of websites and online applications. It acts as a middle layer between the users and the website server. According to their website, people use CloudFlare to improve the security and performance of their websites and services. Cloudflare is one of the largest networks in the world. Today, businesses, nonprofits, bloggers, and everyone on the Internet can enjoy faster and more secure websites and apps thanks to CloudFlare.
What services does Cloudflare provide?
Content Delivery Network (CDN): Caches website data on global servers, reducing load times.
DDoS Security: Protects websites from malicious traffic.
DNS Service: Directs users to the correct IP address.
Security and Firewall: Filters malicious requests.
Is this outage fixed now?
The incident started at around 5.30pm and affected services that rely on CloudFlare’s CDN, DDoS protection and DNS services. However, Cloudflare has now fixed the issue and said it is monitoring the error. The US-based online service provider initially said it was affected by a mysterious bug. CloudFlare’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Dan Nacht, said the bug was in the service supporting bot mitigation, which was caused by a routine configuration change. This caused a major outage in CloudFlare’s network and services.
