Days after Karisma Kapoor’s legal team alleged that her daughter Samaira’s college fees were pending because the managers handling her late ex-husband Sunjay Kapur’s estate had not processed the payments Sunjay’s widow Priya Kapur refuted the accusation in court. During the hearing on the estate dispute Priya’s counsel presented receipts to show that the fees had already been cleared. Priya Sachdev and Karisma Kapoor’s children are currently locked in a legal dispute over Sunjay Kapur’s estate. Priya Kapur’s Lawyer Presents Fee Receipts in Court At Friday’s Delhi High Court hearing on the plea filed by Samaira and her brother Kiaan against their stepmother Priya Priya’s lawyer Sheyl Trehan produced documents confirming that Samaira’s university fees had been paid. According to the receipts submitted ₹95 lakh per semester has already been deposited. “The next instalment is only due in December” her legal team stated. Last week Karisma’s lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani had argued that two months of Samaira’s university fees were still unpaid. The 22-year-old is studying in the US with Sunjay previously covering her education costs. After Priya’s team countered the allegations and termed them a publicity ploy the judge cautioned both sides against unnecessary theatrics. “I don’t want to spend more than 30 seconds on this. This issue should not come before me again. I do not want this hearing turning melodramatic” Justice Singh remarked. The Sunjay Kapur Estate Case Industrialist Sunjay Kapur passed away in London in June during a polo match. His children with his second wife actor Karisma Kapoor—Samaira and Kiaan—have filed a suit against his widow Priya Sachdev Kapur accusing her of forging his will and excluding them from it. On Thursday Priya’s lawyers contested the forgery allegations. “There is nothing unusual about a husband leaving all his assets to his wife. My father-in-law’s will also left everything to his spouse. It is a long-standing and healthy tradition” argued senior advocate Rajiv Nayar representing Priya Kapur. The court is simultaneously hearing arguments on an interim injunction filed by Karisma’s children seeking to prevent Priya Kapur from disposing of or transferring Sunjay Kapur’s assets.
