Grévin Museum shocks with bold Diana ‘Revenge Dress’ statue

The Grévin Wax Museum in Paris has added a long-awaited royal figure to its collection: Princess Diana, showcased in the legendary black “Revenge Dress” that became a symbol of her confidence and independence.

The museum, often compared to London’s Madame Tussauds, already features wax figures of King Charles III and the late Queen Elizabeth II. But despite Diana’s global influence — and her tragic death in Paris in 1997 — she had never been included in the exhibition until now.

Diana’s wax figure is dressed in a recreation of the famous off-the-shoulder black gown designed by Christina Stambolian. She wore the dress in 1994 during a high-profile appearance that coincided with a televised interview in which Charles publicly admitted to infidelity. Her bold fashion choice that night instantly became a cultural landmark and earned the nickname “the revenge dress.”

According to the museum, Diana remains “a timeless icon of style, compassion, and individuality,” even nearly three decades after her death. Her influence, they noted, continues to span generations and continents.

The unveiling was intentionally scheduled for November 20 — the same date Diana’s explosive 1995 BBC interview aired, in which she famously remarked, “There were three of us in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded,” referring to Camilla Parker-Bowles, whom Charles later married.
