This feature will allow any user to determine whether a photo is real or AI-generated. Google will use its invisible watermarking technology, SynthID, to do this.

This feature will be extremely easy to use. Users simply need to upload a photo to the Gemini app and ask, "Is this image from Google AI?" The Gemini app will then scan the hidden SynthID watermark on the photo and tell the user whether the photo is real or AI-generated.

Google's plan isn't limited to images. Soon, this feature will also apply to video, audio, and digital creative content. Google is developing this feature under the C2PA standard, which will also allow content from other AI tools like OpenAI Sora, Adobe Firefly, and Midjourney.
