This year's most divisive contestant has built a career on sharp humour and unexpected run-ins, yet even she admits one moment from the 1990s stands above the rest. Outspoken TV personality Ruby Wax once found herself being ordered off Donald Trump's private jet - an encounter she has since branded one of the most bizarre interviews of her entire career. What began as a routine filming trip for her BBC series Ruby's American Pie quickly spiralled into a showdown with the billionaire businessman, long before he became US President.

Trump was already testing out political talking points back then, and Wax says it was one bold claim in particular that ignited the clash. Ruby, now appearing on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, has spoken about the run-in several times over the years - and each retelling only adds another layer of surreal detail. During Sunday's episode, she once again recalled the moment Trump became so offended by her reaction that he demanded the plane land so she could be removed.

She told viewers: "About 25 years ago, I had a show, so I went on Donald Trump's plane. He said he wanted to be president of the United States, and I started laughing... and he didn't think it was funny, so he threw me off his plane. I'll never forget that!"

The sharp-tongued comic said the atmosphere shifted instantly after she chuckled at Trump's presidential ambitions. In footage she later posted online during the 2016 election, she can be seen trying - and failing - to hide her amusement as he outlines his political dreams.

Sharing the clip on X at the time, she wrote: "Here's my full interview with Trump from 2000. I hope this helps bring him down. Pls share far and wide."

What followed was a tense exchange. Trump abruptly cut her off, saying: "We have to take off... I'm going upstairs. That's enough, I have a headache." Ruby, 72, recalled asking him, "Do you hate me?" He responded saying: "No, I think you're fine, but that's enough."

The comedian has since described the experience in blistering terms. Speaking to The Telegraph, she said: "It's awful to be in his eyeline, and for him to be sending hatred towards you is not pleasant.

His eyes said, 'I'm going to rip your throat out,' and it was very hard to ask questions in that kind of climate. It was awful. It backfired. Who knew he would become president?"

She added: "I laughed at him, which is why he threw me out of his aeroplane. I thought he was kidding, but he made his pilot land, and he threw me off. It was an interesting situation - not one I'd ever want to repeat."

Ruby has also claimed that Trump "hated" her because she wasn't "coming on to him sexually" and therefore he couldn't put her "in her place." In another conversation years later, she said she shocked him when she matched his crude remarks "as animal as he did," which briefly softened his attitude.
