Bollywood’s He-Man Dharmendra passes away 15 days before his birthday, would have turned 90 on December 8

Mumbai Actor Dharmendra, famous as He-Man in Bollywood, died on Monday at the age of 89. He breathed his last at one o’clock in his home. After the death of the actor, a wave of mourning has spread in Bollywood. From Bollywood actors to directors are paying tribute to him. Actor Dharmendra’s birthday was on 8th December. He died just 15 days before his birthday.

Actor Dharmendra was born on 8 December 1935 in Nasrali village of Punjab during the British rule. His father was Krishna Deol and mother was Satwant Kaur. Actor Dharmendra’s first marriage was to Prakash Kaur in 1954. He married actress Hema Malini for the second time in 1980. Hema Malini is currently a BJP MP from Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. He spent his early life in Sahnewal village and studied at the Government Senior Secondary School in Laltan Kalan, Ludhiana. His father was the headmaster of the village school. Dharmendra did his matriculation in Phagwara in 1952. Dharmendra was first married to Prakash Kaur in 1954 at the age of 19, before entering the film industry. He had two sons from this marriage, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol. Also has two daughters Vijeta and Ajeeta.

Married Hema Malini after coming into films

After entering films, Dharmendra married Hema Malini, which caused controversy as he was already married at the time. Rumors of Dharmendra and Hema Malini converting to Islam for this marriage started spreading. During a political campaign, when rumors started spreading again, Dharmendra claimed that he is Hindu and the family is Arya Samajist. He and Malini worked together in several films in the early 1970s, including Sholay. This couple has two daughters Esha Deol and Ahana Deol.

Actor Dharmendra, who is known as the He-Man of Bollywood, has made his mark in films. On the other hand, he also had a strong hold in politics. He was a member of the 15th Lok Sabha of India. Despite being born in Punjab, he contested from Bikaner constituency in Rajasthan from Bharatiya Janata Party and won the election by a huge margin. In 2012, he was awarded the Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest civilian honour, by the Government of India.
