Ferrari Monza SP

The Ferrari Monza SP is not just a car, but a glimpse into Ferrari’s glorious history. It is inspired by the legendary racing cars of the 1950s that made Ferrari famous worldwide—the 1948 Ferrari 166 MM, the 1954 Ferrari 750 Monza, and the 1956 Ferrari 860 Monza. These cars won numerous races in their time and are among the most valuable vintage cars in the world. The Monza SP takes its name from the famous Monza race track in Italy, where Ferrari achieved many historic victories. This car is for those who not only crave speed but also appreciate history and heritage.

design

The Monza SP’s most distinctive feature is its roofless design. It’s designed in the “barchetta” style, which means “small boat.” When you see this car, you’ll feel as if a racing boat has come onto the road. The car has no windscreen, no regular roof. Instead, it features a unique aeroscreen that directs airflow over the driver’s head. The car’s body is made entirely of carbon fiber, making it light and strong. The design is simple and clean—no excessive buttons, no complicated lines, just pure and simple design.

Power and Performance

The Monza SP is powered by a 6.5-liter V12 engine that produces 810 horsepower. This engine is similar to the Ferrari 812 Superfast, but it has been further improved. Performance-wise, the car can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds and from 0-200 km/h in 7.9 seconds. Its top speed exceeds 300 km/h. Imagine a car without a roof or windscreen that can go so fast! When you sit in this car, all you can feel is the sound of the engine, the rush of the wind, and the feel of the road—just like the racing cars of the 1950s.

Variants

The Monza SP comes in two variants—SP1 and SP2. The SP1 is a single-seat car, intended for those who want to enjoy driving alone. The SP2, on the other hand, has two seats – one for the driver and one for the passenger. Both variants offer similar performance, but with slight differences in design. The SP1 has a single headrest, while the SP2 has two separate headrests. Both variants were produced in limited numbers and sold only to select Ferrari customers.

Driving Experience

The Monza SP’s driving experience is completely different from today’s modern cars. When you drive this car, you feel as if you’ve stepped back into the 1950s. The wind blows through your hair, the engine’s sound reaches your ears without any obstruction, and you feel every bit of the road. The car has no air conditioning, no music system, or navigation system. This is a pure driving experience – where there’s just you, the car, and the road. This experience is for those who have forgotten the joy of true driving amidst the noise of modern technology.

Price and Availability

The Monza SP costs around ₹15 crore, but just having money isn’t enough. This car is sold only to Ferrari’s most loyal customers who already own several Ferraris. Only 499 units were made worldwide. It is almost impossible to see this car in India, as it has no roof and is not practical in Indian weather. Also, Indian road conditions are not suitable for this supercar.
