Uttar Pradesh government has recently issued an order that now Aadhar card will not be recognized as date of birth certificate. The planning department has issued clear instructions in this regard saying that the date of birth recorded in the Aadhar card cannot be accepted as an official document.

What was said in the letter issued?

The reason for this is that the date of birth in Aadhaar is self-declared and it is not verified on the basis of any certified document. In the letter issued by the Special Secretary of the Planning Department, it has been said that Aadhaar card should not be used as date of birth proof in government appointments, various services, application processes and verification works.

He clarified that in the process of making Aadhaar, it is not mandatory to verify the date of birth of the person with any valid document like birth certificate, school record or document issued from the hospital. In many cases this information is given only by the applicant and there is no official proof of it.

This decision of the government has been taken on the basis of the letter sent by the regional office of UIDAI. UIDAI has also clarified that the date of birth recorded in the Aadhaar card cannot be considered authentic. Therefore, the state government has directed all departments to stop accepting Aadhaar card as DOB certificate and also inform their subordinate offices to implement this order.

After this, now only valid documents will be valid as proof of date of birth in government services, government job, pension, scholarship, license, government schemes and any age process. These documents include birth certificate, high school certificate, birth registration record issued by the municipal body or other authorized documents.

Processes with false information will stop

This move by the government is to ensure that only verified and recognized documents are used as proof of date of birth in all government and official processes. This will not only bring clarity in matters to identity and age, but will also prevent processes based on wrong or false information.

After the implementation of this order, all the departments and government offices of the state will have to implement it with immediate effect, so that Aadhaar card is not accepted as DOB certificate and only authorized documents are used.
