Mahindra has officially launched the XEV 9S in India at a starting price of ₹19.95 lakh (ex-showroom). Positioned between the BE 6 and the XEV 9e, the XEV 9S is Mahindra’s first all-electric three-row, seven-seater SUV. Essentially, it serves as the electric counterpart to the Mahindra XUV700, offering a more family-oriented appeal compared to the sportier BE 6 and XEV 9e. Here’s a detailed comparison of how the XEV 9S differs from the XEV 9e in terms of pricing, design, interior, and powertrain.

Price Comparison
The Mahindra XEV 9S is priced from ₹19.95 lakh to ₹29.45 lakh (ex-showroom). The entry-level variant is ₹1.95 lakh cheaper than the base XEV 9e, which starts at ₹21.50 lakh. Even the top-end XEV 9S variant undercuts the top-spec XEV 9e by roughly ₹1 lakh, making it the more affordable option overall.

Exterior Differences
The XEV 9e features a sporty coupe-SUV profile, giving it a sleek and aggressive road presence. In contrast, the XEV 9S adopts a more traditional SUV-like shape, resembling the XUV700 in its stance and proportions.

Key exterior differences include:
• Larger wheels on the XEV 9S compared to the 18-inch wheels on the XEV 9e
• A rear wiper with washer exclusively on the XEV 9S
• Different taillight designs: the XEV 9e gets an inverted U-shaped connected LED setup, while the XEV 9S comes with split LED tail lamps similar to the XUV700

Colour Options
The colour palette also varies between both models. The XEV 9e gets unique shades like Deep Forest and Tango Red, which are not offered on the XEV 9S. Instead, the XEV 9S introduces a fresh Desert Mist colour option.

Interior Comparison
While the front cabin layout—especially the driver’s console—is similar in both SUVs, the key difference lies in the seating configuration.

• XEV 9S: Three-row layout with seating for seven
• XEV 9e: Two rows with a five-seat layout

Additional features exclusive to the XEV 9S include:
• Sliding and ventilated second-row seats
• Powered Boss Mode
• Panoramic sunroof

These additions make the XEV 9S more suited for families seeking comfort and space.

Powertrain and Battery Options
The Mahindra XEV 9S offers more configurations than the XEV 9e. Along with the standard 59 kWh and 79 kWh battery packs, the XEV 9S introduces a third 70 kWh option—exclusive to the mid-spec Two Above variant.

This battery pack allows the SUV to produce:
• Maximum power: 241 bhp
• Peak torque: 380 Nm

This gives buyers additional flexibility in choosing performance and range according to their needs.

Which One Is More Advanced?
• The XEV 9e stands out with its sportier coupe-SUV profile and premium colour choices.
• The XEV 9S is more practical, more spacious, and more feature-loaded—especially with three rows, ventilated seats, and more battery options.

If “advanced” means tech, comfort, and versatility, the XEV 9S takes the lead.
If “advanced” means design and styling, the XEV 9e feels more premium and futuristic.
