Kolkata: Three days in a row, BJP State President Samik Bhattacharya demanded that CEC Gyanesh Kumar and his team should visit Bengal and go to the bordering districts of Murshidabad, South & North 24 Parganas, instead of sitting in New Delhi and see the real ground situation in the state and view “how the BLOs have been compromised due to the pressure by Trinamool Congress.” Meanwhile, calling it “BJP’s nervous breakdown”, Trinamool Congress said BJP has realized that they cannot do in Bengal what was done in Bihar by deleting names.
Urging the CEC not to sit in Delhi but come to Bengal and make field visits, Bhatatcharya asked Kumar to come here and find out how BLOs have been “hijacked” and gauge “the real time problems” faced by the BLOs.
“Shri Kumar, go and see the situation in Murshidabad.” the BJP State President said, adding, “Father-in Law is turning to father. Father is on rent. Daughter is older than her mother…How can this be possible?…There are so many weird cases that have come up. How BLOs are threatened and SIR is happening in 12 states, but no other states are in the headlines except Bengal. The CEC should come with his whole team. Please save the BLOs. I would urge them to invite the opposition leaders like Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi as well.”
Bhattacharya said, “The BLOs are hijacked. They have been compromised by the Trinamool Congress. They (BLOs) are common people doing government jobs. How far can they tolerate? They are helpless. One BLOs husband is fighting for life in the hospital in Murshidabad after a deadly attack by Trinamool Congress.”
“False information is being uploaded. Let Gyanesh Kumar not sit in Delhi but go to Murshidabad and see what is happening here. You will have the experience. There are SIR in 12 states, but no problems are reported anywhere,” the BJP State President said yesterday, adding that Bengal is different from other states.
“Go to Malda, Murshidabad and Gosaba and you will understand what is happening,” he added.
“The BLO security and safety is in ECI’s jurisdiction. So, Kumar should come here instead of handling things from Delhi. There is a need for on-ground monitoring by the CEC. The safety and security of the BLOs are in the charge of CEC and ECI,” Bhattacharya said yesterday. “CEC should come to Bengal and instead of sending officers to Bengal.”
“Gyanesh Kumar. He should come to understand the real situation. West Bengal’s situation is different from other states. If he thinks that he will monitor the situation by satellite from Delhi and manage it, it will not happen,” Samik Bhattacharya said.
Debanshu Basak, Trinamool Social Media In-charge, said, “BJP state President's statement shows there is a complete nervous breakdown. They could not achieve here what they did in Bihar by deleting names of the voters. They are saying the same thing that we have been saying for long. Why are there no BJP BLAs on ground? How many times will Gyanesh Kumar save you?”
