Patna. Bihar government has taken a big initiative to promote sugarcane based industries in the state. The last date of application for the Bihar State Jaggery Industry Promotion Program, launched with the aim of encouraging jaggery production, has been extended.

Now interested farmers and investors will be able to apply online till December 25. This date was earlier fixed for 25th November. This scheme is proving to be a boon for those areas where sugarcane cultivation is prominent and farmers want to convert their produce into better prices.

Who will get how much grant?

Jaggery production units will be given subsidy up to 50% of the capital cost by the Sugarcane Industry Department. The amount of grant will depend on the sugarcane crushing capacity of the unit.

The grant structure is as follows-

5–20 ton per day capacity

Maximum grant: ₹6 lakh

21–40 tonne per day capacity

Maximum grant: ₹15 lakh

41–60 tonne per day capacity

Maximum grant: ₹45 lakh

Capacity more than 60 tons per day

Grant amount: Up to ₹1 crore

This is the first time that the state government is providing assistance of such a huge amount to jaggery production units.

Now apply online till 25th December

Applications are being accepted online at ccs.bihar.gov.in. The program is now in its seventh phase and the department has given a bigger opportunity to interested applicants by extending the time. Farmers or investors can get more information from their district sugarcane officer or assistant director.
