BJP leader and former Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi reacted strongly to Maulana Madani’s statement. Naqvi alleged that such statements were being made with the intention of provoking communal riots in the society. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC called Maulana Madani the so-called “covenant” of the community and accused him of always giving wrong advice. He asked whether the Supreme Court’s decision on triple talaq was retrogressive in terms of the dignity of Muslim women. Shaina NC admitted that the word “Jihad” had been misused, but appealed to Maulana Madani to “stop provoking the Muslim community”.

JDU emphasizes on national symbols

Reacting to Maulana Madani’s speech, JDU leader Neeraj Kumar highlighted the importance of national symbols. He said that be it Vande Mataram or National Anthem, no one can disagree with him. He added that who can disagree with the national flag or the national anthem, because this country belongs to everyone and everyone has played a role in gaining freedom and sustaining democracy. According to him, saying Vande Mataram or Bharat Mata Ki Jai is a sign of Indian nationhood.
