Aadhaar-PAN linking: In the new year, action may be taken against PAN cards that are not linked to Aadhaar. Such PANs will become inoperative, which could disrupt banking, tax returns, investments, and other transactions. Therefore, it is crucial to link Aadhaar and PAN in time.
Aadhaar-PAN linking: December begins with several important changes. These rules aim to bring transparency to government processes and prevent fraud. These changes in banking, tax, and financial transactions are also increasing the responsibility of the public. Therefore, it is crucial to be aware of these rules and take necessary steps in time.
Aadhaar-PAN linking deadline
The central government has set a deadline for linking PAN cards with Aadhaar. According to government regulations, those who have obtained their Aadhaar card on or before October 1, 2024, will be required to link their PAN card with Aadhaar. They have until December 31, 2025.
What will happen if the linking is not completed by the deadline?
If a person fails to link their PAN with Aadhaar by the due date, their PAN card will become inactive from January 1, 2026. An inactive PAN card means they will be unable to perform many important financial and legal tasks.
Inactive PAN can increase difficulties
Filing income tax returns will be impossible if their PAN card is inactive. Additionally, opening a bank account, making large transactions, investing, mutual funds, the stock market, and many government services may also pose difficulties. Furthermore, they may also have to pay higher taxes in many areas.
The process of linking PAN and Aadhaar is simple.
