Yogi government is working rapidly on digital agriculture policy, e-market, cold storage expansion and agricultural processing to increase the income of farmers. Digitization of mandis, projects worth Rs 4000 crore, thousands of processing units are opening new possibilities for farmers.

Lucknow. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath gives the biggest priority to the facilities and progress of farmers. He keeps reviewing agricultural schemes and works from time to time. The result of this is that today the farmers of Uttar Pradesh are becoming more prosperous than before. In the mission of making UP a trillion dollar economy, the Chief Minister has also worked to involve farmers. On his instructions, work is being done rapidly on digital agriculture policy.

Farmers are considered the backbone of any economy. They not only feed the country but also contribute significantly to economic development. To ensure that farmers are not left behind in the digital age, a detailed plan for the development of digital agriculture ecosystem is being implemented.

Increase in farmers' income through digital agriculture ecosystem

The Uttar Pradesh government is providing all the important data related to farming to the farmers on an integrated digital platform. Farmers can now easily get information related to seeds, fertilizers, weather, irrigation, insurance, markets, logistics and crops.

Digital agriculture policy has been linked to international technology. E-market linking, warehousing, processing and export based policies are injecting new energy into the rural economy. Yogi government has given instructions to rapidly implement the project worth Rs 4000 crore for the development of digital agriculture.

The picture of agricultural markets changed due to technology

Earlier, the agricultural markets of Uttar Pradesh used to run on the old pattern and technology was not used in them. Due to this, there was a lack of transparency between farmers and buyers and middlemen took most of the profits. Due to the policies of Yogi government, the mandis have now been digitalised. With this, farmers are getting accurate information about crops, weather and market. Due to this transparency the income of farmers is increasing.

Expansion of cold storage and warehouse in rural areas

Before 2017, access to cold storage was difficult for farmers in rural areas. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath laid emphasis on the expansion of cold storage and warehouse as soon as he came into government. Today, about 40% of the total storage capacity of the country is in cold storage in UP. There are about 2500 cold stores in the state, whose total storage capacity is up to 1.55 crore metric tonnes. The government is linking the modernization of cold storage to farmers' income and a large number of new cold storages are being constructed under the PPP model.

Increase in farmers' profits and new markets through agricultural processing

Agro processing sector is emerging as new possibilities in UP. The government is paying special attention to increasing the income of farmers. Now the produce from the farms is directly reaching foreign countries. There is also emphasis on development of Agro Process Units, Food Parks and ODOP based agricultural products in small villages. According to the Food Processing Department, there are about 75,000 food processing units established in the state. 428 new units have been set up under the food processing policy.

The government aims to set up at least 1000 processing units in every district. The department plans to set up at least one unit in every village. With this, farmers will get the right price for their crops and villagers will also get employment at the local level.
