This time Khadi Mahotsav-2025 witnessed record sales of ₹3.20 crore, which is 42% more than last year. 160 entrepreneurs and thousands of visitors participated. Khadi, herbal products, jute handicrafts and clay art were in highest demand.
Lucknow. This time the sales created a new record in the 10-day Khadi Mahotsav-2025 organized at the Central Sanskrit University, Gomtinagar. Based on the theme 'From Thread to Heritage', the total turnover of the event reached ₹3.20 crore. This figure is about 42% more than last year's sales of ₹2.25 crore. The shopping enthusiasm was the highest on the last day of the festival and there was a huge crowd at the stalls till late evening.
Khadi, herbal products and clay art remained the first choice of customers.
This time, people bought Khadi clothes, herbal products, jute handicrafts and clay art items the most. Visitors reported that it was a relatable and interesting experience to have such a wide range of traditional khadi, local crafts and natural products in one place. There was a consistent presence of youth, students and women at the festival, which further boosted sales.
Participation of 160 entrepreneurs, artisans from all over the state reached
A total of 160 entrepreneurs including 32 stalls of Khadi institutions, 120 stalls of village industries and 08 stalls of clay art participated in the programme. Artisans who came from many districts including Lucknow, Muzaffarnagar, Barabanki, Gorakhpur said that not only the crowd increased this year, but the enthusiasm for shopping was also much higher than in previous years.
'Increasing presence of young customers' became a big reason
Prem Kumar of Swarajya Ashram, Satendra Kumar of Gram Seva Sansthan, Abbas Ansari of Muzaffarnagar, Anjali Singh of Jute Artisans, Premchandra of Barabanki and Prof. of Royal Honey. Nitin Singh said that this time the special presence of young customers was the main reason for the increase in sales. The growing interest of youth has given new market opportunities to Khadi and local products.
Increasing popularity and cultural importance of Khadi Mahotsav
There was an enthusiastic atmosphere throughout the festival. Visitors said that confidence in the products made by local artisans has increased and people's inclination towards indigenous goods is continuously increasing. On the closing occasion, Chief Executive Officer of the Board, Shishir thanked the entrepreneurs and the organizing team. He said that Khadi is no longer just a clothing option, but has become a common identity of both cultural heritage and modern consumers.
