New Delhi: Indian Railways has given special honor to three key players of India’s victorious team in the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025. Pratika Rawal, Sneh Rana, and Renuka Singh Thakur have now been appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD-Sports) in Railways. Under this appointment, they will also get salary and facilities equivalent to Group B Gazetted Officer.

With this initiative of Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSBP), women cricketers will not only get financial security, but they have also been entrusted with administrative responsibilities. The move recognizes excellence in the game and provides stability to players’ careers.

India’s brilliant performance in the Women’s World Cup

This year the Women’s Cricket World Cup was jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka. The tournament began on 30 September 2025 and ended with the final on 2 November. The Indian team won the title of World Champion for the first time by defeating South Africa in the final under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Kaur.

Pratika Raval performed brilliantly in the group stage, but she was ruled out of the tournament due to an injury shortly before the semi-finals. Shefali Verma was taken in the team in her place.

Sneh Rana was included in the team as a bowling all-rounder. He contributed in many important matches, but after one match against New Zealand he did not get further opportunities.

Renuka Singh’s bowling was commendable throughout the tournament. In the final, he bowled eight overs giving only 28 runs and made it challenging for the South African batsmen to score runs.

This is a big achievement for women players

This appointment of Indian Railways gives recognition to women cricketers not only in the field of sports but also in the administrative field. Pratika Rawal, Sneh Rana, and Renuka Singh will now be at the forefront in handling administrative responsibilities along with sports.
