News India Live, Digital Desk: If you are also a government employee or a pensioner, then your eyes are on these days. 8th Pay Commission Will be based on every small and big news to it. Everyone hopes that they will see a big increase in their salary and pension in the coming time.
But, the report we have today may spoil your mood a bit. The latest update coming regarding a very old and big demand of the employees is not “good news” at all.
What is the whole matter? (What is the issue?)
For a long time, employee unions and people have been demanding that as soon as the Dearness Allowance (DA) 50 percent Cross the figure of , automatically Basic Salary Should be merged. That means DA should become zero (0) and 50% of the money should be added to the basic salary. This leads to a huge increase in the salaries of the employees.
Hopes seem to be dashing
If the latest reports and sources are to be believed, the government or the Pay Commission will not accept this demand this time too. Reject Can do. Yes, it may sound a bit bitter, but it seems that there will probably not be an automatic merger of DA with the basic salary.
You may remember that during the 6th and 7th Pay Commission, similar recommendations were made that DA should be kept separate from the basic pay, even if it crosses 50%. The report suggests that the 8th Pay Commission may also carry forward this tradition.
What does this mean for employees?
If this report proves to be true, it will have a direct impact on your ‘in-hand salary’ and future hike.
- Fitment Factor: Now all eyes will be completely focused on the fitment factor. If DA is not merged, then the only major means of increasing salary will be the fitment factor.
- Old Testament: Actually, DA used to be merged till the 5th Pay Commission, but since then the new committees did not consider it practical. They argue that the purpose of dearness allowance is only to deal with rising inflation and not to make it a permanent part of the salary structure.
Don’t be discouraged, there is still hope
Friends, right now this is news coming from media reports and sources. There is still time for the formation of the 8th Pay Commission and its final report. Employee unions are still putting pressure on the government.
It is possible that the government may find a middle path during elections or on some other occasion. But for now, assume that “Delhi is far away” and getting a big jump in salary may have to wait longer.
