Success of women’s kayaking team
Dehradun: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) women’s kayaking team has performed excellently in the President’s Cup 2025. This championship was held at Tehri Dam in Uttarakhand, where the Indian team won 47 medals and occupied the first position in the points table. In this competition which ran from 28 to 30 November 2025, the team won 18 gold, 17 silver and 12 bronze medals.
Praising its women’s kayaking team, CISF said, “We are proud that the newly formed women’s kayaking team of 2025 has performed exceptionally well in this competition. In its first year itself, the team has displayed discipline and excellence, which reflects our commitment towards excellence in sports.”
21 countries participated in this international kayaking championship, which included around 300 athletes. In the women’s category, L/HC/GD Khwairakpam Dhanamanjuri and L/HC/GD Manaswini Swain won gold medals in K4 (500m). Apart from this, L/HC/GD Faremban Sonia Devi also won gold medal in K4 (200m). The Indian team won silver medals in K1 (1000 m) and K2 (500 m).
Serbia finished second with a total of seven medals, including five gold, while Kazakhstan finished third with four gold and a total of 10 medals. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami honored the winning players and teams. On this occasion, he said that Tehri Lake has now become a major venue for international adventure sports, and in future, water sports of Asian and Commonwealth Games can be organized here.
