In a city-wide celebration of empathy, more than 3,000 Mumbaikars attended a two-day pet adoption drive held in Bandra over the weekend. The event showcased what hope looks like: 200 healthy, vaccinated, and vet-cleared Indian-breed puppies and kittens were up for adoption across nearly 15 stalls designed for pets and prospective pet parents.

Touted as Asia’s largest adoption camp, this was the 10th edition of Adoptathon. Several celebrities graced the event, including Urmila Matondkar, Cyrus Broacha, Arunoday Singh, Anushka Manchanda, Soha Ali Khan, Bhumika Chawla, Aditi Shetty, and others. Actress Tanushree Dutta adopted a puppy named Lily. “Socho mat, just adopt. If you keep thinking, it never works - just pick a puppy and adopt,” she said. Speaking about the event, Soha Ali Khan shared, “This is a safe and organized way to begin your journey as a pet parent. We adopted our dogs from here a decade ago.” Actress Aditi Shetty added, “All these adorable puppies are rescued and waiting to be loved and adopted.”

The organisers, aimed to find homes for rescued Indian-breed puppies and kittens and encouraged the community to "stand in solidarity with our beloved streeties".
