he spy-action thriller “Dhurandhar” starring Ranveer Singh (among others) has been given a clean chit by the film certification authorities after a fresh review. The film’s certification was re-examined following a directive from the court and the board ruled that “Dhurandhar” has no connection to the life or service of the late Major Mohit Sharma whose family had raised objections. The movie is officially declared a purely fictional work. What triggered the re-examination of Dhurandhar? The trouble began when Major Sharma’s family filed a petition seeking a stay on the film’s release. They argued that the movie appeared to mirror the life and martyrdom of the decorated soldier and that it was being promoted in a way that suggested it was “inspired by true events.” In response to the petition the Delhi High Court asked the certification body Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to reconsider and carefully evaluate the concerns raised by Major Sharma’s family including whether any depiction in the film resembled the soldier’s real-life story. The Court even suggested that the CBFC could consult the Indian Army before granting clearance. What did CBFC say? Responding to the court order dated December 1 2025 the CBFC conducted a fresh assessment of the film. After reviewing the content the board concluded that “Dhurandhar” does not depict or draw from Major Mohit Sharma’s life directly or indirectly. They emphasised that the film is a work of fiction. The board also noted that the film carries a clear disclaimer stating that all characters events and storylines are fictitious and do not represent any real individual living or deceased. According to internal records the examining committee had first screened the film on November 28 2025 and had granted provisional adult certification subject to certain edits. The fresh re-examination upheld that decision. CBFC assessed that there was “no factual or biographical connection” with Major Sharma. Since the film does not realistically depict any real army officer or actual military operation they found it unnecessary to consult the Army. The certification of Dhurandhar With the objections rejected and fresh clearance given the certification process for “Dhurandhar” is expected to proceed smoothly under normal guidelines.  is directed by Aditya Dhar and has a high-profile cast including Ranveer Singh Sanjay Dutt R.
