Patna, 2 December. Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Dr. Prem Kumar was elected unopposed and unanimously as the next Speaker of Bihar Assembly on Tuesday. As soon as the formal announcement of the elections was made, slogans of ‘Har Har Mahadev’ and ‘Jai Shri Ram’ echoed in the House.

After being elected Assembly Speaker, Prem Kumar started his address with a verse from Bhagavad Gita. He said, ‘I am grateful that you all chose me unanimously. As Speaker, it will be my duty to follow the rules of the House and protect the rights of all the members. We have to ensure that dialogue across diversity of views is encouraged. We have got the opportunity to serve the public. Both government and opposition will be equally important for me.

CM Nitish Kumar congratulated

After the elections, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav themselves took Prem Kumar to the Speaker’s chair and congratulated him by making him sit on the chair. CM Nitish Kumar on behalf of the entire House congratulated him on his victory and also congratulated all the newly elected MLAs.

Tejashwi Yadav congratulated Dr. Prem Kumar on being elected Speaker of the Assembly. He said that he also has good wishes from Rashtriya Janata Dal and Lalu Prasad Yadav. Tejashwi said that Prem Kumar comes from the land of knowledge and salvation, hence we salute that land also. He expressed hope that the new president will take both the ruling party and the opposition along and will not disappoint anyone while fulfilling his responsibility. In 2025 also he scored a hat-trick of victory for the third time. This victory further strengthens public confidence in him and his popularity.
