Veteran Pakistani actress Salma Zafar has shared heartfelt insights into the sacrifices she made for her children throughout her life. Known for her notable roles in dramas such as Dao, Adawat, Namak Haram, Paposh Nagar Ki Neelam, Qarz-e-Jaan, Ghair Ahsaas, Hum Tum, Main Manto Nahi Hoon, and her recent performance in Pamaal, Salma has been a prominent figure in the Pakistani television industry since 2016. She has also co-hosted several live transmissions on major TV channels, including Bol, Dawn, and PTV, showcasing her versatility beyond acting.

Salma revealed that much of her life was dedicated to prioritizing her children’s needs over her own. She shared a personal memory from her younger days: she once wanted to buy a nose ring worth 2,000 PKR, but refrained from doing so to save money for her children. Her daughter was reportedly upset at the time and often wondered why her mother never spent money on herself. Salma explained that she consistently set aside her own desires, only accepting gifts from family members, friends, and her children.

Reflecting on her choices, Salma admitted that she now realizes the importance of self-care. She emphasized that mothers often neglect themselves for the sake of their families, but loving and respecting oneself is essential. Today, with her children grown and married, they frequently bring her gifts, and she now enjoys a full wardrobe—a symbol of the love and thoughtfulness of her family.

Salma stressed that while maternal sacrifices are natural, they should not come at the cost of a mother’s own happiness. She advised mothers to find a balance between caring for their children and taking care of themselves. She stated, “We make a big mistake when we don’t care for ourselves. No one will respect us if we don’t love ourselves. Mothers do these sacrifices because it satisfies them, but self-love is equally important.”
