Kashmiri Kahwa Tea – Winter is here, and for many Indians, starting the morning with a warm cup of tea is a cherished ritual. While regular tea is a daily favourite, there’s a special version that’s not only flavorful but also packed with health benefits: Kashmiri Kahwa.

This traditional tea is popular not just in Kashmir but across India. It is mainly consumed during cold months, as saffron and whole spices in the tea help the body stay warm. While Kahwa is typically enjoyed in winter, it can be savored year-round. Traditionally, it was brewed in a brass or copper samovar. Here’s how you can make this soothing and healthy beverage at home.

Ingredients for Kashmiri Kahwa

  • 3 cups of water
  • 10–12 strands of saffron
  • ½ inch cinnamon stick
  • 1 clove
  • 1 whole green cardamom
  • ½ teaspoon dried rose petals
  • 1 teaspoon Kashmiri green tea
  • 2 teaspoons finely chopped almonds
  • 2 teaspoons honey

Step-by-Step Recipe

  1. Heat the water in a saucepan over medium-high flame.
  2. Once the water comes to a boil, reduce the heat and add saffron, cinnamon, clove, cardamom, and dried rose petals. Let it simmer for 3–4 minutes to release the flavours.
  3. Turn off the flame, add Kashmiri green tea, and gently stir the mixture for 30 seconds.
  4. Strain the tea into a cup, and add a teaspoon of chopped almonds and a few saffron strands.
  5. If you prefer a slightly sweet flavour, add honey. Your healthy and aromatic Kashmiri Kahwa is ready to enjoy!
