Maruti Suzuki has finally launched its first electric SUV in the Indian market today, December 2, 2025. Maruti Suzuki E-Vitara has been launched. The SUV was spotted testing several times before its launch and is now officially available for customers. Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that the e-Vitara will go on sale in January 2026. Notably, this is the first electric car from Maruti to receive a 5-star safety rating from India NCAP. Let’s take a look at its features.

Design and look

The design of the E-Vitara is very modern and premium. Its front end features matrix-connected LED headlamps, slim LED taillamps and a sleek front grille. Hidden rear door handles and 18-inch alloy wheels give it a more hi-tech look. The company offers it in seven color options, including popular colors like Nexa Blue, Arctic White and Opulent Red. Meanwhile, the price of this car starts from around 20 lakhs and will go up to 25 lakhs.

More than 500 km range on a single charge

The E Vitara has been launched with two battery packs – 49 kWh and 61 kWh. It has a 120-cell high-capacity lithium-ion battery. The biggest highlight of the SUV is its ALLGRIP-e 4WD system. It is India’s first electric SUV with 4WD at this price point. The 61 kWh battery model produces 172 bhp and 300 Nm of torque and offers a range of up to 543 km on a full charge. It can be charged from 0-80% in just 50 minutes using the DC fast charger.

Features and comfort of the car

By Maruti The focus is on making the E Vitara fully hi-tech and comfortable. It supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, making phone connectivity super easy. It has a 10.25-inch digital driver display that displays all the necessary car information in a clear and premium manner. It also has an electric sunroof and ventilated seats, making driving more comfortable. A 360-degree camera makes parking and cornering in tight spaces easy. The driver’s seat is equipped with an electric seat, which allows easy adjustment of the seat position.

5-star rated electric SUV

The E Vitara is also very strong in terms of safety. It has Level-2 ADAS, which includes features like auto braking, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control. The SUV also gets seven airbags, TPMS, AVAS, parking sensors and rear disc brakes. These features have earned her a 5-star rating from India NCAP. Maruti Suzuki E Vitara will now compete with electric SUVs like Tata Curve EV, Mahindra BE6 and MG ZS EV in the Indian market.

At the launch, Maruti Suzuki announced plans to install 2,000 electric vehicle charging stations in over 1,100 cities across India. The company has partnered with 13 charge point operators to expand its network.
