BLACKPINK Jennie breaks K-pop solo records with fourth RIAA Gold Certification for 'ExtraL'

BLACKPINK superstar Jennie has shattered her own record as the K-pop solo artist with the most RIAA certifications, earning her fourth gold plaque for 'ExtraL' featuring Grammy-nominated rapper Doechii from her debut album 'Ruby'. The Recording Industry Association of America announced the certification on December 2, recognizing that the track surpassed 500,000 units sold in the United States, equivalent to approximately 42.4 million INR in commercial value based on current exchange rates, according to reports by Yonhap News.

Triple threat from one album What makes this achievement particularly jaw-dropping is that three songs from 'Ruby', released in March 2025 through OA Entertainment and Columbia Records, have now earned RIAA certifications, marking an unprecedented milestone in K-pop history. Jennie previously secured gold certifications in August for both 'Mantra' and 'Like Jennie', while her explosive collaboration with The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp titled 'One of the Girls' earned platinum status for exceeding one million units. The RIAA grants certifications based on combined sales and streaming equivalents, with gold requiring 500,000 units, platinum demanding one million, multi-platinum at two million, and the coveted diamond reserved for ten million units.

From YG to global domination After departing YG Entertainment in 2023 and establishing her independent label Odd Atelier, Jennie poured herself into creating 'Ruby', her middle name and the title of her confessional 15-track debut full-length album. She collaborated with heavyweight producers including El Guincho, Diplo, and Mike Will Made It, spending grueling hours in the studio cutting vocals from morning to night, as she revealed in an October Harper's Bazaar interview. The album spawned a version titled Jennie Only Audio that strips away all featured artists, showcasing her raw artistry without collaborative embellishments.

Europe awaits her arrival The 28-year-old phenomenon continues her victory lap with a confirmed performance at Spain's prestigious Mad Cool Festival on July 9, 2026, in Madrid, where she will share the bill with Florence and the Machine, Lorde, and Halsey. Fans are already scrambling for tickets while worrying about potential scheduling conflicts between overlapping sets, particularly if Jennie and Lorde perform simultaneously on different stages. Her inclusion as a headliner at one of Europe's most influential music festivals solidifies her status as K-pop's premier solo ambassador, capable of drawing massive crowds alongside Western pop royalty.
