Over the past few weeks, I'm A Celebrity viewers have seen this year's campmates open up about their lives beyond the showbiz world.

One of which includes EastEnders star Shona McGarty, who has recently opened up about her personal heartbreak and anxiety struggles.

As the 34-year-old edges closer to becoming Queen of the Jungle, with the show coming to an end on Sunday night, one of her former co-stars has had nothing but praise when detailing watching Shona on-screen.

Speaking to Betway, her former EastEnders co-star James Bye has opened up about why she could be struggling on the ITV show.

The Martin Fowler star highlighted that Shona is a 'very sensitive' person and that it wouldn't take a lot for her to agree to join the cast.

When asked how he believes she's coping, he replied: "She's such a kind-hearted, genuine person. It can't be easy for her in there.

"I know what she's like - she's a very sensitive person, so for her to take that leap and jump up and do something like I'm A Celeb, I think she's incredible."

As the competition draws to a close, the soap star was questioned on how far he thinks Shona will go as the stars begin to get eliminated.

He replied: "She's being very truthful to herself - and that's who she is. You just never know with these shows; they're brilliantly made.

"They're cleverly constructed because they have to be entertaining; they can't just film people sitting on a campfire, chatting.

"They're edited to be entertaining. I think it's the beauty of that show because it's out of your control. If you go in there and you're yourself and you're true to your beliefs, I don't think there's anything more you can do. I don't think it matters who wins or loses."

So far on the programme, ITV viewers have seen Alex Scott, Eddie Kadi and Vogue Williams leave the jungle.

On Monday night, Vogue was the latest star to exit as she spoke to Ant and Dec about her experience.

The 40-year-old said: When asked how it felt to be out of the camp, she replied: "It feels good, I have to say, it was getting really hard, and I'm so hungry! But it's such a weird thing because you kind of want to stay as well.

"It's so fun in there, you're just doing so many random things, everyone is such good fun and I'll be sad to leave."
