Lemon is used in all of our homes, whether it is used to enhance the taste of any dish or to make lemon water and drink it or in any other way. Lemon is used in our kitchen, but often a problem is seen that half of the lemon is used after cutting and the other half gets spoiled after drying.
This problem occurs in almost every house – if half a lemon is left, it dries up, loses its taste or gets spoiled by the next day. Today we will tell you some easy kitchen tips, by adopting which you can keep half cut lemon fresh for many days.
keep in airtight container
Keep the cut part facing down in a small airtight box. Due to this, the cut part will not come in contact with air and the moisture will not dry out. When kept in the refrigerator, it easily remains fresh for 5-7 days.
Keep in plastic wrap or cling film
Cover the cut half of the lemon tightly with cling film. It locks out moisture. This keeps the lemon fresh for 1 week.
Fill a small airtight container with water
Pour some water into a small bowl or container. Turn the cut part towards the water. This method keeps the lemon juicy for 7–10 days.
keep in zip lock bag
Remove as much air as you can from the bag. Then keep in the refrigerator. This method also keeps the lemon fresh for 5–7 days.
Apply olive oil or any cooking oil
Apply a light layer of oil on the cut side. The oil acts like a cover and does not allow moisture to escape. With this the lemon can remain fresh for 7-8 days.
Take out the juice and freeze it in an ice tray
If you often have half a lemon left, then juice the remaining lemon and put it in an ice tray. After freezing, keep the cubes in an airtight bag. The juice remains safe for 1–2 months.
Can also be saved by keeping it in salt
Apply a little salt on the cut area. Then keep in an airtight container. Salt prevents lemons from spoiling.
