The film "Dhurandhar" is generating a lot of buzz these days. Fans are excited about the film, starring Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and Akshaye Khanna. The film's powerful trailer was recently released, creating a stir online. Before its release, the film became embroiled in controversy. The family of the late Major Mohit Sharma approached the Delhi High Court to stop the film's release. Now, a new update has emerged.
Major Mohit Sharma's Family's Allegations
A Ashok Chakra and Sena Medal winner, Major Sharma, served with the Indian Army's 1 Para (Special Forces). He was martyred during an operation in Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir, on March 21, 2009. Sharma's parents, in their petition, stated that the film closely resembles the officer's life, undercover mission, and martyrdom. They claimed that the makers did not obtain permission from the Indian Army or his family before depicting various aspects of his real life.
Arguments by the Producers' Lawyer
During the hearing on the petition today, Advocate Saurabh Kirpal, representing the producers, denied any connection between the film and Major Sharma's life. He called the petition a "misunderstanding." CGSC Ashish Dixit, representing the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), confirmed that the film has been deemed fictional.
Delhi High Court Disposes of Petition
The Delhi High Court did not stay the film's release. It directed the CBFC to expedite its certification process and carefully consider the objections raised by Major Mohit Sharma's parents. Thus, the court concluded the hearing on the petition.
Statement by Mohit Sharma's Family Lawyer
Rupenshu Pratap Singh, the lawyer representing Major Mohit Sharma's family, says, "The High Court has directed the CBFC to consider all the points raised by the petitioner. After that, they will consider the issue of certification." It has still not been released, so the CBFC should consider all the points raised by the petitioner or the parents of the late Major Mohit Sharma.
