IND vs SA 2025: Rohit Sharma walks off in disbelief after DRS replay shows edge in Raipur ODI
CricTracker | December 3, 2025 9:39 PM CST

India opener Rohit Sharmawas left visibly surprised after he was adjudged caught behind by the third umpire during the second ODI of the three-match series against South Africa at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur on Wednesday, December 3. Rohit was dismissed for 14 off 8 in an innings which comprised three fours.

The tourists went up half-heartedly after Rohit played-and-missed a length delivery angling away from Nandre Burger on the fifth ball of the fifth over of the match. The on-field umpire was not convinced whether there was any sort of bat involved. The Proteas went up to challenge the decision. To Rohit's extreme surprise, he had indeed nicked the ball behind, as confirmed by the DRS replay on air.

While speaking with Yashasvi Jaiswal between the decision being reviewed and the final decision popping up on the big screen, Rohit had conveyed that the ball went through to the keeper after nipping away off the seam and that he did not feel as if he had made any contact. However, Rohit found his claim to be wrong a few moments afterwards, as the television visuals suggested otherwise.

The ongoing match is only the second One-Day International being played at the venue. India once again lost the toss and were invited to bat first. The Men in Blue made no changes to their side which had won the series-opening contest by 17 runs in Ranchi. On the other hand, South Africa went ahead with three changes, with captain Temba Bavuma returning to the mix.

Rohit, who had scored 57 off 51 in the first match and had also topped the list for the most number of sixes hit by a cricketer in ODIs, did not get going on December 3. It was another left-arm pacer in the form of Marco Jansen who was successful in getting Rohit out a few days back. Rohit was the first wicket to fall for the hosts on Wednesday.
