Panipat. In a village in Panipat, Haryana, the wedding drums had not even subsided when panic spread in the house. A day of celebration turned into a nightmare when a 6-year-old girl suddenly went missing. Within a few hours the happy atmosphere turned into an anxious search. By evening, a horrifying murder case was revealed, hearing about which everyone was shocked.
Wedding happiness turned into mourning
Haryana Police said on Wednesday, December 3 that a woman has been arrested for the murder of her niece in Panipat. The reason was simply that the woman did not want someone more beautiful than her. Out of jealousy, the accused Poonam drowned her 6-year-old niece in a tub of water on Monday when the entire family had gathered for a wedding function in Sonipat. According to the police, Poonam had earlier killed three children including her son in 2023. Like his niece, he also murdered her by drowning her in water.
How was the 6 year old innocent murdered?
According to the police, 6-year-old Vidhi lived in Sonipat and had come with her family to Naultha village in Israna area of Panipat to attend a relative's wedding. He was accompanied by his grandfather Pal Singh, grandmother Omwati, father Sandeep, mother and 10-month-old younger brother. The incident occurred when the wedding procession reached Naultha and the family left with the wedding procession around 1.30 pm on Monday.
Innocent child's head found drowned in a tub of water
Soon after, Vidhi's father received a call informing him that Vidhi was missing and the family started searching for her. About an hour later, her grandmother Omwati went to a storeroom on the first floor of her relative's house. The door of the storeroom was closed from outside. When they opened it, they found Vidhi's head submerged in a tub of water and her feet hanging on the ground. The girl was immediately taken to NC Medical College, where doctors declared her dead. Vidhi's father later lodged an FIR, alleging that she was murdered. Police investigation revealed that the accused was none other than Vidhi's aunt Poonam.
Murderer Poonam narrated the shocking incident
According to the police, Poonam's method of hitting children was extremely disturbing, which was caused by jealousy and anger. Poonam did not want anyone to look more beautiful than her. She especially targeted young, beautiful girls. In total, Poonam has confessed to killing 4 children, including 3 girls and one of her own sons. He killed everyone by drowning them in water.
People were considering the murders committed by Poonam as natural deaths.
Poonam told that in 2023 she had killed her sister-in-law's daughter. That same year, he also drowned his son to avoid suspicion. In August this year, Poonam killed another girl in Siwah village because the child looked 'prettier' than her. Let us tell you that the death of these children was being considered as natural death until Poonam confessed her bitter truth during interrogation in the legal murder case.
